Chair – Deirdre Forsyth is a retired Local Government officer, having worked in Ayrshire, Glasgow and Argyll and Bute. Currently Chair of the board of Scotwest Credit Union and on the boards of two subsidiary companies of Fyne Homes housing Association; Fyne Futures and Fyne Initiatives. Deirdre is interested in land reform, renewables and housing.
Treasurer – Nigel Henderson is chief executive of Penumbra, one of Scotland’s most innovative mental health organisations. Nigel joined Penumbra in 1991 and became its Chief Executive in 1999. He is a qualified mental health and general nurse. Nigel has spent over 30 years in the mental health field and has a wealth of experience in leading, managing, developing and innovating services. He is currently President of Mental Health Europe and a Trustee of the Albion Trust. He has contributed to many initiatives including starting and developing ‘see me’ (mental health anti stigma campaign) and the Scottish Recovery Network (SRN) and is a founding Trustee of SCRT
Trustee – Eamonn Connolly has worked for EVH since 1997. His background is within public and private hospitals both within the UK and overseas. He also served as a senior university official prior to joining EVH. Eamonn has also worked within construction, entertainment and food distribution. Within EVH he leads the team and has overall responsibility for industrial relations and employer support across the membership. He performs a wide range of consultancy and training for members and countless others within Scotland’s social enterprise sector. Eamonn also serves as a Board member of Fair Deal, a Glasgow based organisation providing support to people with learning difficulties
Trustee – Rodney Stares trained as an economist – specialising in business finance and accountancy – and in a career spanning more than 40 years has worked on a wide variety of local economic development, community enterprise and corporate social responsibility projects in the UK, US and developing countries. Latterly he developed his own range of specialist software products. He has founded or co-founded numerous new ventures including consultancy firms, social enterprises, a village development trust and a leadership training foundation. He was a founder member of Social Entrepreneur Network Scotland (Senscot) and has been its Treasurer since its inception in 1999. For 6 years he served as a trustee of UnLtd, the national funding body for social entrepreneurs.
Trustee – Alison Massie is Head of Finance & Compliance at Capital Credit Union. Capital Credit Union is widely recognised as being one of the most successful, innovative, and visionary credit unions in Britain today. The Credit Union is the 3rd largest in Scotland and has a membership of 20,000 with assets of over £27m under management. Capital has members throughout the East of Scotland from the Borders to Angus. Alison joined Capital Credit Union in 2009; she is a qualified accountant and has more than twenty five years experience as a senior manager and director of finance mainly in not for profit organisations. Alison was a trustee of The Pensions Trust for 12 years between 1995 and 2007.
Trustee – Pauline Hinchion is Director of the Scottish Community Re: Investment Trust (SCRT) and its financial arm Scottish Communities Finance Ltd (SCF Ltd). She did a Masters in Community Economy Development and has a HNC in Socially Responsible Finance. Although previously, she worked in the private and public sectors, for over 20 years she has worked mainly in the Third Sector. This is the sector that aligns most with her own green and social philosophy for a good life . She is very interested in green politics that allows people to live equally within the resources available to us on the planet.
